What you should know

Your experience at Estate of Health is important to us. Please read the following so you can prepare for the best possible experience here at our beautiful sanctuary.

  • Shoes must be removed upon entering Estate of Health. We are striving to preserve our floors which are over a century and a half old, and shoes make noise. You are welcome to bring your own slippers or sandals while you visit.
  • Coats and bags may be placed in the closet to the left inside the entrance.
  • Cell phones must be turned to silent or turned off. You are encouraged to unplug completely while you are here, but we understand that certain circumstances require some of our guests to have their phones available.
  • All guests are required to check in at the Boutique upon arrival so we may ensure there is enough space for all our guests.
  • Please respect the signs indicating “Whisper” and “Silentzones to ensure that all our guests can reap the utmost benefits of their visit.

Vehicles– We have FREE parking on the premise for your use while visiting the Estate of Health. Should the parking lot be full upon your arrival, you may park on Mill Street, or in the Municipal Parking Lot on Pearl Street.

Carpooling- is better for the environment and for our neighbourhood! Please consider carpooling whenever possible.

Bicycles- You may park your bicycle at our bicycle racks in the designated spaces. Please note, that we offer bike rentals so spaces may be empty, but please check to make sure they are not marked “Rental Space Only.” If there are no bicycle spaces available in the rack, you may tie your bike up to a tree. Please be kind to our trees!

Where to Go

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early for scheduled classes to check in and pay for your class in the Boutique.
  • Meet your teacher in the Yoga Room for the class.
  • Outdoor classes will gather here first and head outdoors as a group.

What to Bring

  • Sealable water bottle– If you forget yours, water bottles may be purchased in the Boutique, and water is available on site.
  • Mats– Mats & props are provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own mat. Our mats will be set up prior to the start of class, so feel free to put yours on top of one for extra padding.
  • Comfortable, flexible clothing that allows for free movement in all of our classes. Tops are required for men and women.

Additional Info

  • Classes start promptly, please be on time. Do not open the door after it has been closed at the start of class.
  • Please do not wear strong scents or perfumes to our classes out of courtesy to our guests who are sensitive to them.
  • Practicing personal hygiene is also a practice of yoga! Please arrive fresh for class and enjoy the purity that it can provide.
  • For outdoor classes you may wish to wear sunscreen and/or bug spray. Natural bug spray may be purchased in our Boutique prior to class.
  • If you use our mats, we ask that you wipe them down with the provided mat cleaner after the class.
  • Many students use the time prior to class to centre themselves through meditation or warm-up yoga. Please be respectful by keeping your voice to whisper level during this time.
  • Honour your own practice. Our classes give you the chance to explore your body’s limits and comforts. While it is encouraged to follow the teacher’s sequencing, if there is a posture that pushes you beyond your limit, please refrain from practicing it. Our skilled teachers will be able to provide modifications that allow you to find the same benefits with less risk of injury.
  • Don’t skip savasana! The rest at the end of class is very important to allow the body, mind and energy system to process the effects of the practice. Leaving during savasana also disturbs your fellow students who are trying to reach a state of balance.
  • Please assist your teacher in putting away the props after class.
